Frequently Asked Questions

Why are passphrases more secure than random character passwords?
A 4-word passphrase from a 7776-word list has approximately 51 bits of entropy. A 5-word passphrase has ~64 bits — more than a typical random 10-character password. Passphrases are also far easier to remember and type.
What word list is used?
The generator uses a curated list of common English words selected for memorability and clarity. Words that could cause embarrassment or confusion are excluded.
